Mark Kogan, MD

About Mark

Dr. Mark Kogan received his undergraduate and MD degrees from Northwestern University. As a member of the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education, he earned both degrees in a total of 6 years. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University, he went on to complete his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado.

Dr. Kogan has been practicing in the Bay Area since 1987 and has been exhaustively involved in the medical community in numerous leadership roles. He has served as Chief of Staff at Doctors Medical Center and as President of the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association, and as Chief of Gastroenterology at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center. Additionally, he has served as a Regional Medical Director for the Alta Bates Medical Group as well as sat on the clinical practice committee for the American Gastroenterology Association. Currently, he is a member of the California delegation to the American Medical Association and serves on the Board of Trustees of the California Medical Association. He also has had teaching appointments at UCSF School of Medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor and an Adjunct Associate Professor at Touro Osteopathic Medical School. He has been named one of the top Gastroenterologists in the Bay Area by San Francisco Magazine for 2016, 2017, and 2018.

A native of Chicago, Dr. Kogan enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys the natural beauty of the Bay Area and spends his free time hiking, skiing, and golfing.
