RRH Emergency Department Nurses receive a 2-day intensive training course from Kern Medical on trauma

On August 23rd and 24^th Kern Medical, Kern County’s Level II Trauma Center, came out to provide a Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) for our Emergency Department nurses. This was a two-day intensive course that trained nurses on trauma assessment and fundamentals of caring for a trauma patient. Staff were tested on their knowledge of trauma and the pathophysiology of trauma. In addition to a written exam, nurses were also evaluated on a hands-on assessment and priorities or care for a patient.

“Ridgecrest Regional Hospital is part of the State of California’s trauma system and with that responsibility, we want to keep our nurses educated and prepared to receive and care for trauma patients,” said Emergency Department Manager, Breanne Chromi RN. “We had a total of 8 RRH nurses take the class, along with 2 Kern Medical nurses, who were brought to RRH to attend the class as well.”
