Looking Out For Your Heart Health

Looking Out for Your Heart Health

The biggest killer in the United States is heart disease. This disease can go undetected for years, until a serious event like a heart attack or stroke occurs and a patient finally has their cardiovascular health examined. A major reason that heart disease is so deadly is that it has no noticeable symptoms. The only way to stay ahead of heart disease is to keep up with your blood pressure, blood cholesterol level, diet, and lifestyle.

Risk factors for heart disease include:
  • Diet high in fat and cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Stress
  • Excessive alcohol consumption
  • Lack of physical activity; you should be getting at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week
  • A family history of heart disease; someone in your family had a heart attack or stroke
  • High sodium diet

Our cardiology team can help you manage many of your risk factors for heart disease. Ignorance of heart disease risk factors is one reason it has become such a deadly condition. By staying on top of your heart health, you can drastically lower your risk for heart disease, stroke, and other cardiac events.

We also offer exercise classes that last one hour and are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
