If you or someone you care about needs help during recovery, RRH offers rehabilitation services that support everyday goals and greater independence.
When you or a family member is recovering after surgery or another health change, it may be difficult to know what kind of support is available or where to begin. Rehabilitation may help someone rebuild strength or return to everyday activities. It may also support communication and swallowing needs.
Ridgecrest Regional Hospital offers several rehabilitation options for patients at different stages of recovery.

Outpatient rehabilitation
RRH rehabilitation services include physical and occupational therapy in acute and outpatient settings. Speech-language therapy is also available. Physical therapy helps patients regain strength and range of motion following an injury or illness.
Occupational therapy supports daily activities and treats hand and upper-extremity conditions. Speech-language therapy addresses communication and swallowing concerns.
RRH also provides pediatric outpatient rehabilitation for children whose needs may affect daily life or academic performance. The rehabilitation team works with families, caregivers and healthcare professionals to develop a treatment plan based on each child’s needs.

The Transitional Care Rehab Unit, or TCRU, provides short-term recovery for adults ages 18 and older who meet its admission requirements. It serves patients who no longer need acute hospital care but require additional support before returning home. Physical and occupational therapy are available in the unit.

Finding the right next step
Finding the right service begins with understanding the patient’s needs and whether they meet the program’s requirements. Patients and families can speak with their healthcare provider or contact the appropriate RRH program directly to ask about referrals and scheduling. The program can also provide information about insurance coverage.
During National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, RRH recognizes every patient working toward greater independence and the rehabilitation professionals supporting them. Whether you are looking for help for yourself or someone you care about, these local services can offer a place to begin.
