How to Receive Your Medical Records

Accessing your medical records is crucial for managing your health effectively. Here, we provide three straightforward methods to obtain your records from RRH: using the patient portal app, calling our office, or dropping off your paperwork in person. Please account for 5-6 days to process and deliver your medical records.

Option 1: Drop Off or Email Paperwork to the Front Office

Drop off or email your release of information request and receive your medical records via mail or electronic.

Steps:

  1. Download and complete our release information form:

    Note: Request forms must be completed with a handwritten signature. Digital signatures are not accepted.
  2. Drop off to front office, building B, entrance B1 on RRH.org/map or email to medicalrecords@rrh.org
  3. Wait for the confirmation of your request processing.

Option 2: Use the Follow My Health App

Download and register for the Follow My Health app to access medical records digitally.
Note: Some reports or test results may not be available on Follow My Health

Steps:

  1. Register here: FollowMyHealth
  2. Use a web browser or the Follow My Health app (App Store or Google Play)
  3. Await RRH to verify your information.

Once you have access, you can get your medical records digitally.

Option 3: Call for Assistance

Call Medical Records at RRH to schedule a visit.

Steps:

  1. Call (760) 499-3668 to speak with a representative.
  2. Provide necessary identification details and specify the records you need.
  3. Download and complete our release information form

FAQs

What does medical records provide?

Medical records provide a comprehensive set of documents that include your clinical history, treatment records, lab results, and more. Please note that we do not issue identification documents or other non-medical records.

How long does it take?

On average, it takes 5-6 days to process and deliver your medical records. If you have not received your records after 10 days, please contact us at (760) 499-3668 to speak with a representative who can assist you further.

Do I have to pay for a copy of my medical record?

If a physician’s office is requesting a copy of your record or results, the HIM Department can mail or fax the information to the physician’s office free of charge when the physician’s office requests a copy.

If requested by the patient, a copy of “pertinent information” (dictation, lab, radiology, EKGs and the ER Record, etc.) from the medical record will be provided free of charge on a one-time basis for each visit. If the patient requests additional copies of the same record, the hospital will charge for additional copies.

How do I receive my medical records?

You can receive your medical records in various formats to suit your convenience. Options include Email, FAX, CD, Physical Copy - either by mail or self-pick up from RRH.

Can I pick up my spouse’s medical information?

You can pick up your spouse’s medical information only if your spouse has signed a Release of Information Form entitling you to receive the information. A note that has been signed and dated by the spouse giving you permission is also acceptable. Identification will be checked when picking up medical information.

Can I get a copy of my child’s birth certificate from the HIM (Health Information Management or Medical Records) Department?

The HIM Department does not keep a copy of the official birth certificate in the chart. To obtain a copy of your child’s birth certificate if the baby is under one year old, please call the Kern County Department of Public Health Vital Statistics Department at (661) 868-0228.

If your child is over one year old and you need a copy of the birth certificate, please call the California Department of Health Services at (916) 445-1719.

If you need a copy of your child’s social security card, please call the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213.

What is Follow My Health?

Follow My Health is an application available for both mobile devices and desktop computers that provides users with convenient access to their medical information. It allows you to retrieve your medical records, view upcoming appointments, and more.
