Monday, May 18, 2020, RIDGECREST, Calif. - Ridgecrest Regional Hospital (RRH) has today announced that it is one of twenty-eight signatories, including all ten Kern County acute care area hospitals, who have joined forces in seeking additional flexibility for reopening in a letter of request sent to Governor Newsom dated Friday, May 15, 2020.
As outlined by Governor Newsom, California is currently in stage 2 of his reopening plan, within which stage there are multiple phases to reopening. Currently only certain businesses are able to operate. In the letter submitted to the Governor, Kern County addresses the readiness criteria established by the State and provides supporting evidence for Kern County’s professional and medical opinion on the county’s readiness to further reopen.
The full endorsement of the county’s requests has been seen by Governor Newsom and his team. It is anticipated that a response will be given later this week as the Governor continues to move the State forward through his press briefings.
RRH would like to thank Kern County, our department of Public health and our local hospital network for joining forces on this request and we thank Governor Newsom and his team for their time and consideration on this matter. We will continue to keep our community updated on any developments.
