RRH COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory & Response Community Drive-Thru Clinic Update (1.21.21)

RRH COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory & Response Community Drive-Thru Clinic Update (1.21.21)

California State Epidemiologist Issues Update on Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine (1.20.21):

"Out of an abundance of caution, we recommended that providers pause the distribution of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine lot 41L20A on Sunday evening. Yesterday, we convened the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup and additional allergy and immunology specialists to examine the evidence collected. We had further discussions with the County of San Diego Department of Public Health, the FDA, CDC and manufacturer, and found no scientific basis to continue the pause. Providers that paused vaccine administration from Moderna Lot 41L20A can immediately resume.”

Following updated guidance issued from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Ridgecrest Regional Hospital will resume its community drive-thru vaccine clinic. The clinic will resume from Friday, January 22, with patients previously scheduled.

An RRH representative will be contacting all previously scheduled patients to confirm their revised appointment date and time. If you have been waiting patiently for a call regarding an appointment, there is no need to call us again - your message and place in line is held. Once we have rescheduled all previous appointments, we will call all those who had left messages waiting for an appointment, in the order the first call/message was received.

“It is important that our critical nursing resources remain focused on providing vaccines,” said Michelle Whalley, RRH Clinic Administrator and Vaccine Taskforce Leader. “For this reason, we would ask you to please not call multiple times. I want to personally reassure our community that we will contact you to reschedule your appointment. If you have been waiting patiently for us to schedule you, we will call you after rescheduling others. This pause was unfortunate, but your safety is paramount to us. We will call you.”

Whalley continued, “As a reminder, Kern County has entered Phase 1b vaccinating only those 65 and older at this time. We hope to expand this as per guidance from CDPH in the very near future. Please continue to follow our posts and the RRH website for updates. Until it’s your turn, please continue to stay safe and remain patient just a little bit longer. Our teams are working hard to meet demand. They want to vaccinate you as much as you want to be vaccinated. We look forward to seeing you very soon through our vaccine clinics. We appreciate your support and patience while we re-implement our vaccine service.”
