Become a Hospice Volunteer

Make a difference by offering your help and companionship to those with life-limiting illnesses. Ridgecrest Regional Hospital’s Home Health and Hospice provides care and support to patients and families with life-limiting illnesses. The core of our philosophy is providing comfort to our patients by honoring their needs and wishes, in their very own environment. We are always looking for caring individuals interested in donating the gift of their time to support this program. Hospice Volunteers come from all walks of life and don’t need a medical background.

As a Hospice Volunteer, you will:

  • Get information and education on key aspects of hospice care.
  • Learn how a hospice care team works within a health care organization.
  • Learn how to provide grief and bereavement support.
  • Learn communication and stress management skills.

Direct Patient Care:

  • Patient/Caregiver Visitation
  • Caregiver Respite
  • Light Meal Preparation
  • Vigil Sitting at Bedside

Indirect Services:

  • Clerical Work
  • Knitting/Crocheting Blankets
  • Speakers Bureau

“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.”
