The RRHF has established the Fred Hawkins Memorial Scholarship in honor of all the work Fred has done in support of EMT programs across our city, county, state and beyond. The Foundation seeks to strengthen and build a better future for our community through EMT education. One of the challenges facing EMT today is recruitment and retention of EMT practitioners. In an effort to address this challenge, the Foundation is offering scholarship opportunities to individuals interested in pursuing a career in EMT.

Application Process & Deadlines:
Applicant eligibility is limited to individuals who live or are pursuing education or employment within the following areas: Bishop, California City, Edwards AFB, Kern River Valley, Mammoth Lakes, Ridgecrest/IWV, and Tehachapi. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Applications for the Spring Semester 2026 MUST be received by January 30th. Applications for the Fall Semester 2026 MUST be received by September 11th.
Applications will be reviewed by members of the Scholarship Committee, who will determine which candidates will be interviewed. The candidate selected to receive the Scholarship will be notified within two (2) weeks from the application deadlines.
EMT Program
The scholarship supports students completing the Emergency Medical Technician Certificate. The one-semester program prepares students for entry-level opportunities in emergency medical services and related fields.
Amount of Award:
The scholarship funds will be paid out in two increments, for a total of $1200. Upon class completion, the testing fee for the National Registry of EMTs will be paid by RRH Foundation as well.
