Level IV Trauma Center
Providing Quality Care for Trauma Patients
Ridgecrest Regional Hospital became a level IV trauma center in 2016. A trauma center meets state and local requirements to provide treatment for life-threatening injuries. We are part of the Kern County Trauma System and collaborate with Kern Medical –Level II Trauma Center - to provide quality care for trauma patients. We participate in trauma quality monitoring, education of staff and evaluation of outcomes at the regional and state level. A helicopter landing pad is available on-site for critical care transport to specialty care hospitals.
Our trauma staff are prepared to provide immediate evaluation, treatment and care for people of all ages.
We work closely with Emergency Medical Services for continuity of care for patients who may need transport to a higher level trauma center.
- Emergency Medicine Physicians
- We provide immediate care , resuscitation and stabilization for trauma patients. If a patient needs more specialized care the emergency department will work with higher level trauma centers to get them to the right place for care
- Nurses trained in trauma care
- Laboratory services including Blood Bank, Imaging services and Surgery services are ready 24 hr/day
Trauma Outreach Prevention
- Stop the Bleed: This national awareness campaign educates the public on saving lives through hemorrhage control. The number 1 cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding and this short program teaches anyone how to save a life in with 3 quick actions. We have classes for staff, students, workplaces, teachers and EMS.
- Fall Prevention offered through strength and balance classes. See Community Outreach.
